Paula J. Carter describes herself as "born and raised in an awesomely boring suburb". In order to amuse herself and her friends, she drew hilarious caricatures of their parents, teachers and celebrities. Some things never change... since 1984 Paula has actually been getting paid to gently poke fun at all the fine people who have passed in front of her easel. She went to the Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts in Philadelphia ("Don't tell my professors!"), where she got an excellent education in drawing her fellow human beings the 'right way'. Once free of school, Paula started moving people's prominent features around. She has been drawing at parties and festivals ever since. Her clients include Lego ("it was a snap"), Carrier Corp ("very cool", Filenes, Aetna, K-Mart and Pinnacle Brands among others. Paula is proud to be a "Mainer". She has fun at the drawing board, and so do her models, who "are amazed by the way I get a likeness before they can bat an eyelash... but I exaggerate..."
