All his life Lar has been fascinated with paper. If he wasn’t drawing on it, he began to fold it. When he wasn’t folding it, he began cutting it. Combined with his gift for caricature and a personal paper collection that was almost frightening in its size, his work has evolved into multimedia illustrations that combine his visual art skills with folding techniques, cutting and sculpting.
Lar has received awards for his caricatures and sculptural paper work from the National Caricature Network, and was the 2004 recipient of the Florence Temko Award from the Origami Society of America. In 2005 he placed 11th overall at the National Caricature Convention in Las Vegas NV.
Lar currently works as a freelance illustrator from his home in Acton Ontario. He continues to receive commissions for digital and paper illustrations, caricatures and cartoons, and has received many awards for his pieces at science fiction and media conventions across Canada and the United States. He is also available for live caricaturing services for business or personal events.
