Dan Springer received his formal art training at the
Rhode Island School of Design, where he received his
BFA in Illustration in 1991. Since then, he has done
freelance illustration for various publications, including
%u201CThe New York Times%u201D, %u201CThe Village Voice%u201D, and %u201CAvenue%u201D
magazine. He started his fine art career in 1996 when
he founded the %u201C4E Gallery%u201D in Tribeca where he showed
various artists, as well as his own work every month.
He also showed at numerous galleries and clubs,
including the %u201CAce Gallery%u201D, the %u201CGershwin Gallery%u201D, %u201CThe
Tunnel%u201D and %u201CFaces and Names%u201D, (159 W. 54th St.), and
%u201CRumours%u201D (8th Ave. & 55th St.) where he has a permanent
exhibitions. He has also done live caricatures at %u201CFaces
and Names%u201D since they opened; about 12 years ago.
He has worked as a caricature artist for the past 19
years, including work at Six Flags-Great Adventure and has
been living on commissioned caricature paintings and
freelance illustration projects for the past 9 years.
